ABSTRACT OF THE COURSE

This course will introduce the design of joints according to MS EN1993: Part 1-8.  The overview of the code, including basis of design, connection with bolts, welded connections, analysis and structural joints in open sections will be delivered.  Several design examples of bolted and welded connections will be given.  This is followed with the introduction of steel connections in seismic designs.  An approach based on EN1998: Part 1 related to specific rules for steel buildings will be explained.
